Environmental Impacts Evaluation

Today's water managers need to be as concerned about environmental resources as they are with water supply issues. That's why HydroLogics has assembled a professional staff that believes in developing methods of measuring impacts that are important to the participating stakeholders. (See our Computer-Aided Dispute Resolution section.) HydroLogics refers to the methods of measuring impacts as performance measures. These performance measures are indicators of whether a result is better or worse than an alternative and form the basis for the development of our modeling applications.

Depending upon the performance measures selected, our OASIS software may be linked with water quality modules, temperature models, salmon survival models, or other biological models. Once the model is constructed, users can investigate system-wide dynamics and rapidly and methodically evaluate the response of the system to different operating policies. The impacts on downstream releases, surface water or lake levels, hydroelectric generation, and possibly water temperatures and quality can be evaluated.

HydroLogics' staff have extensive expertise in assessing environmental impacts associated with surface water diversions, flood control and power operations. We have also teamed with biologists and engineers to provide analysis and evaluation based on our modeling results.
